One of the resolutions was to be the avoidance of whimsy such as the following, but I can’t resist!
Here’s Jim from NoMoraDiaspora:
“I’m fairly comfortable with an Independent Scotland, a Federal UK or even a prosperous Scotland within the union - I just aspire to a better Scotland than we currently have.”And Jeff from SNP Tactical Voting:
“I reckon if the Scottish independence referendum was held this week I’d vote no.”Progress indeed, gentlemen. Oh, and Jim: so do we all. Here’s to a better Scotland. Cheers!

Hear hear!
(That's my random post of the year over - but an important one!)
It's weird isn't it, never has so much bilge water been pumped than that between nationalists and what I'd call 'genuine unionists' (and by that I mean folk like yourself AM2 who turely belief that the union is 'bets for scotland')
We will continue to disagree but make no mistake I do have respect for the position you take.
I think the one thing that strangely unites scottish blogger's is indeed a desire to see our nation blossom fully, beyond what we've seen thus far.
I thought mine was quite complimentary, to be honest! I complimented your writing style!
I'm so chuffed to have been quoted somewhere ;-) I might have to hang up my keyboard, this could be as good as it gets...
Heavens, an outbreak of collegiality! Whatever next? ;-)
SU
Just to contribute to this tender blogging moment, I'd like to add my appreciation to you for a really well written blog. I'm relatively new to blogging and have ventured onto some other blogs, many of which don't engage debate in quite the same way as yours, especially of late. I'd also like to add that blogging with people of the same viewpoint can be of interest for only so long. There are so many different strands of thought in Scotland, and it would be wrong not to debate with a cross section. We will never improve our lot if we don't.
I've only started reading the blogs recently, personally I find some of the so-called hot ones quite boring because it's the comments after the blog which make it a good read, and make you want to join in. So the blogger has to have an environment which creates that opportunity for everyone. There is nothing so boring as reading a long list of people violently agreeing with the blogger and then violently agreeing with each other, total boredomsville. Some of the most popular definitley fall into that category.
But this is a good one, because so far I have seen that there is a good argument attached to the blog. Which said blog has to be good in the first place to generate.
So that's a compliment.
Chuckles, if you're going to quote me on your trophy wall, please use the full quote.
"Oh you bitter little man."
The 'Oh' softens the blow of the outright accusation, the sentiment, however, remains ;)
"Oh" added. It was linked anyway.
Thank you, now wasn't that cordial?
It was delightful, Oscar.
I like to leave little treats like that just for you SU, think of it like an East Egg hunt that is better for the waistline ;)
And there's nothing wrong with whimsy, as long as it isn't flimsy.
LOL Jeff. But where's the flimsiness here? A short trip to London and suddenly you're not sure if independence is such a good idea. Why was that?
